From the on campus art gallery to the Oscars Academy, Natalie Petozzi (BA’07, MIT) launched her career in Public Relations through a FIMS internship experience at the McIntosh Gallery when she was in the third year of her BA program. This hands-on opportunity allowed her to gain real-world experience and take her first step into the PR industry.

Natalie Petozzi at an awards show"It was my education at FIMS that set me on the path for success in the PR field," she says. "In fact, my first ever PR experience was through the FIMS internship program, where I helped McIntosh Gallery promote their programming. This led to a post-graduation internship at the Canadian Opera Company, then Alliances Films and then I was officially in show biz."

During her time at McIntosh Gallery, Natalie focused on growing her skills in event development and promotion. This practical exposure became a part of the foundation for her future career path. Her experience post-graduation as a publicity intern with the Canadian Opera Company reinforced her passion for the entertainment industry. From there, she expanded her professional expertise, working with companies like Alliance Films, the CBC, and as a freelancer, while also helping to launch the Toronto Flower Market in 2013.

In 2015 Natalie joined Entertainment One, where she led the publicity department for the Canadian film team. Overseeing the release of 20-30 films annually, she managed press junkets, premieres, experiential activations, and grassroots marketing campaigns. The busiest point of her schedule was always September, during the annual Toronto International Film Festival, where she and her team orchestrated world premieres featuring A-list talent.

She specializes in digital film campaigns that seamlessly blend traditional media, emerging social platforms, specialty video content, and immersive in-person events, and has worked with clients like NEON, Focus Features, Amazon MGM Studios, Searchlight Pictures, and many others. In 2025, many of the films she worked on were up for industry awards, such as Anora, Conclave, The Last Showgirl, Hard Truths, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Queer, and Thelma.

Natalie, who says she still regularly thinks about the MIT course on vampires she took as an undergraduate student, credits her education with helping her to achieve success.
